Kua pau te hau 😮💨 what a year it has been! From representing IndigiShare on the international stage to launching our first pakihi programme, we have been waewae ki te whenua mō te tau katoa 🏃🏽♀️➡️
As we wrap up our kaupapa mō te tau, we have taken some time to reflect on the year gone by, and we would like to share a few of our tino kaupapa from 2024…
Te Whare Manaaki’s first success story 💚
At the start of the year, we announced the distribution of our pilot loans through our koha-lending model Te Whare Manaaki. Our first success story is FE Roofing, a kaupapa Māori construction company in Rotorua, where the pūtea provided has enabled them to significantly increase operational capacity.
Accelerating IndigiShare with Tupu Accelerator 📈
In April, we were honoured to be part of the inaugural cohort of the Tupu Accelerator, a 10-week programme developed by Tapuwae Roa in partnership with Sprout Agritech. Through the support of the programme, we were able to refine our investment strategies as well as build relationships with other Māori founders across Aotearoa 💚
IndigiShare takes on Europe with Wahine in Tech ✈️
In June, Maria was among ten wāhine Māori selected for Te Taumata’s Wāhine in Tech delegation to Europe. Representing IndigiShare across Ireland, France, and the UK, Maria met with global tech innovators, explored collaboration opportunities, and showcased our kaupapa-Māori fin-tech solutions on an international stage. Ka rawe!
Growing Māori entrepreneurs with Te Aka Matua🌱
In September, we proudly launched Te Aka Matua, our first business development programme to support pakihi Māori in Rotorua. With the generous support of the Booster Foundation, we welcomed 16 passionate Māori entrepreneurs from diverse sectors, all committed to growing their pakihi and realising their whānau aspirations.
We are joining Creative HQ for 2025! 🚀
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce our selection for Creative HQ’s Fintech Lab cohort for 2025! Guided by industry mentors, regulators, and legislators, the 12-week fully funded programme will help us refine our financial solutions and provide access to VCs eager to back Aotearoa’s Fintech sector. We are very grateful for the opportunity and hope that the resources and mentorship will enable us to scale and enhance our impact within the Māori economy.
Heoi anō, we’re just getting started! Next year, we’ll be building on the momentum we have created in 2024, launching another cohort for Te Aka Matua and creating more opportunities for pakihi Māori to thrive.
Ka nui te mihi to all our our kaitautoko on this haerenga with us. Together, we’re building a stronger Māori economy, thriving pakihi, and a brighter future for our whānau and ngā mokopuna ō apōpō.
