For Te Aka Matua
Te Aronga / Purpose
The purpose of Te Aka Matua (referred to as the ‘Programme’) Terms of Participation is to set out the terms on which the Participant agrees to participate in the Te Aka Matua programme. By agreeing to the Terms and Conditions clause in the Placement Acceptance Form, the Participant agrees to comply with the terms and requirements contained in this Terms of Participation for the duration of the course of the Programme.
Horopaki / Background
As part of IndigiShare’s efforts to build economic resilience, Te Aka Matua has been created as a growth-focused programme for Māori-owned businesses. This five to six-week programme equips whānau with the necessary skills and tools to foster business development. During their time in Te Aka Matua, participants are required to uphold a high level of professionalism, as outlined in these Terms of Participation.
Ngā Mātāpono / General principles of conduct
As a participant in Te Aka Matua, you agree to uphold key principles throughout the programme, including acting respectfully and responsibly, demonstrating manaakitanga and aroha, and fostering an inclusive environment. You are encouraged to communicate openly, value diverse perspectives, and empower others to make decisions for their business. You agree to:
- Act in a respectful, responsible manner and uphold the values of tika and pono in all aspects of involvement as part of the Programme;
- Express manaakitanga and aroha to fellow members in the Programme to create an inclusive, mana-enhancing space;
- Embody ngākau tapatahi, act ethically and at all times be committed to the Programme;
- Clearly communicate intentions and expectations;
- Take responsibility for your own actions; and
- Encourage and empower all.
For mentors, coaches, and advisors, will also conduct themselves in a way that ensures guidance is supportive, mana-enhancing, and respectful of the tuakana/teina relationship, and follow the same mātāpono as participants.
Ngā Herenga ō IndigiShare / IndigiShare obligations
IndigiShare will provide a range of resources and support to participants of Te Aka Matua, including programme materials, both online and in-person, as well as coaching, mentorship, and networking opportunities. Participants will also have the chance to connect with mentors, businesses, and others within the business landscape.
Ngā Herenga / Participants obligations
As a participant in Te Aka Matua, you are expected to:
- Fully prepare for and engage in all programme wānanga, whether in-person or virtual.
- Complete assigned tasks on time or communicate any delays promptly with valid reasons.
- Maintain confidentiality of all programme materials throughout.
- Actively participate, challenge yourself, and seek support if needed.
- Adhere to all instructions and health/safety requirements set by IndigiShare.
- Avoid bullying, harassment, and report any such behaviours to the programme programme delivery team.
- Notify the programme delivery team if attendance issues arise, providing a reasonable explanation.
Te Whakawhiti Kōrero / Communication
To ensure a positive experience in the programme, participants are expected to communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully. If any issues or disputes arise, they should be reported to the programme delivery team promptly, with a genuine effort to resolve them.
Participants should conduct themselves responsibly, avoiding any actions that could harm the programme’s or IndigiShare’s reputation. They must exercise judgment when sharing content, refraining from material that is discriminatory, threatening, defamatory, or breaches intellectual property rights. If unable to continue, participants should notify the programme delivery team immediately.
Herenga Mātātupu / Confidentiality obligations
Participants must keep all business and confidential information shared during the programme private. They agree not to use, publish, or discuss any sensitive details of others unless they have written approval. This includes coursework and any commercially sensitive information encountered throughout the programme. Disclosure of this information to others is strictly forbidden, even after the programme’s conclusion, unless they receive prior written consent from the programme delivery team.
Te Tango Whakaahua me ngā Ataata / Photos and videos / Intellectual Property
Photos, images, or videos may be taken during the programme, whether in-person or online. The participant grants IndigiShare permission to use these materials for purposes related to the programme, such as marketing, reporting, or educational content, without any royalties or compensation. IndigiShare may determine how these materials are used in connection with the programme. All intellectual property developed before, during, or after the programme remains the property of the respective party, and no rights to use, copy, or modify it are granted without consent.
Te Whakatau Take / Dispute resolution
All disputes related to the programme will be resolved in good faith, using a mana-enhancing process. If a participant becomes involved in a dispute, they are expected to engage openly in the resolution process, as determined by IndigiShare, without affecting either party’s legal rights.
Te Whakaunu / Removal from the Programme
IndigiShare retains the right to remove any participant from the programme if, in its sole opinion, they breach any terms outlined in the Terms of Participation.
